During 6 weeks, pupils from 3e1, 2, and 3 worked onto an interdisciplinary English-History project. In groups of 2 or 3, they studied various documents (audio or video testimonies, historian texts, pictures…) in French and in English. These documents talked about the childhood of a child/ teenager during the Second World War (or WW2) : a deported Jewish child, a child in the French resistance, a teenager landing in Normandy, a child living in London during the Blitz, an evacuated child from London during the Blitz, a child living in Jersey. Our students could enjoy the presence of their English and History teachers for more lessons than usual !
The final task was a double one :
- writing an interview as a newspaper article : an old person is telling a British journalist about their experience as a child in the war. The pupils used digital devices to create their article. You can find some examples of their creations below.
- giving out a talk, in French, about the historical facts they acquired during this project. They made a mind-map to explain their oral presentation.
